The Benefits of Social Media

The Benefits of Social Media
As most you know, social media has been a growing trend since 2006. Popular ones, like Facebook and Twitter, are a great way to show the world who you are. On these websites, you can find friends who you normally wouldn't talk to. Share ideas, events, and connect with people who enjoy the same hobbies as you do. According to statistics found by Levitz and colleagues, only 5% of students do not use social media websites, which means that now, more than ever, social media is used as a tool for interactions across all ages of students.(1)

Not only can you use social media as a way to find friends, but students also use it as a learning tool (2). Students can share their projects with peers so everyone can see and like them. People online also have informative pages, so people can follow them and read about the topic. On Facebook, people have been known to create groups with their classmates and converse and learn (2).

Social media can help you with a variety of things.

Since millions of people are online daily (3), that means that companies use these websites to  advertise new trends and things that would interest people using these websites. These things can be anything from clothing to games to the newest technology.

Social media has changed the was we understand things, such as our news online or popular videos we share with each other. Advertisements are beneficial for young kids because it can expand their knowledge on new products and services.
